Overview

The Wilcox CRC and Maag Library provide access to books, journals and databases which support educational philosophies, trends, research, and pedagogy at all levels. The Wilcox CRC has materials and texts geared for student, classroom and school use.  For a description of the CRC's physical collections click here.

 

Finding Articles

Access to the following databases is restricted to current YSU students, faculty, and staff.

 

To access any of these databases, go to the Maag homepage and click on the Research tab.  If you are searching from off-campus click on the off-campus access link under Quick Links on the left side of this page.

There are three primary places to search for articles:

 

Electronic Journal Center (EJC)

Full text journal from OhioLINK electronic journal subscriptions.  Currently includes over 6000 scolarly journals in a variety of disciplines.

 

JSTOR

JSTOR or Journal Storage is an online journal archive.  For those journals included in JSTOR, the full text of articles is available from the earliest issue up to the last 3-5 years.

 

OhioLINK Research Databases

  • Academic Search Complete
  • A multidisciplinary database that indexes over 4300 periodicals and contains full text for over 3400 scholarly publications.

  • Education Full Text (Wilson Interface)
  • Full text of articles, with indexing cover to cover. Coverage includes about 79 journals (37 with full text). Included are up-to-date subject headings keeping pace with contemporary changing issues and terminology.

  • Education Research Complete
  • A bibliographic and full text database covering scholarly research and information relating to all areas of education. Topics covered include all levels of education from early childhood to higher education, and all educational specialties, such as multilingual education, health education, and testing.  Also covers areas of curriculum instruction as well as administration, policy, funding, and related social issues.

  • ERIC (EBSCO Interface)
  • The ERIC database is the world's largest source of education information, containing abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice. The database covers descriptions and evaluations of programs, research reports and surveys, curriculum and teaching guides, instructional materials, position papers, and resource materials.

  • Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
  • Index, abstracts and full text covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, pyschiatry and psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.

  • Offers index, abstracts, and full text for publications in sociology and all its subdisciplines.
