OhioLINK Borrowing Services

Current students, staff, faculty,YSU retirees, Alumni Association members, and Friends of the Library may borrow items from another OhioLINK Library if the item is not available through MaagNet Online Catalog. The catalogs of 84 colleges, universities, and public libraries including the State Library of Ohio can be searched through the online OhioLINK Central Catalog. Items may be requested directly through the catalog and set to deliver to an OhioLINK destination of your choice. Click OhioLINK to learn more about this consortium.

Requesting from OhioLINK

Once the record is found in the OhioLINK Central Catalog then follow these steps to make a request:

  1. Click on the “Libraries have this item” link.
  2. Scroll down the list of libraries to see if the status is “AVAILABLE.”
  3. If the status is “AVAILABLE” it can be requested by clicking on the “Request this Item” link.
  4. Select “Youngstown State” as your school or institution.
  5. Type your name in the textbox.
  6. Enter your YSU ID #, (the Y number).
  7. Enter your PIN # ( which is your password).
  8. Select the institution where you would like this to be delivered – default is YSU.
  9. Submit the request.
  10. Receipt of a successful request is given along with title, library sending, and library receiving    information.
  11. Check Your Library Account to know when the item has arrived.


Viewing the Request Status

OhioLINK deliveries take 3-5 business days. The status of the request can be tracked through Your Library Account by following these steps:

  1. Go to Your Library Account.
  2. Type in your name and barcode number.
  3. Submit the request.
  4. Look in the upper right corner and click on the “requests (holds)” link.
  5. Title, status, and pickup location will be noted.
  6. Status will go through: “REQUESTED,” “IN TRANSIT,” and “OHIOLINK RECVD.”
  7. Once the status indicates “OHIOLINK RECVD” the item can be picked up and checked out.
  8. Don’t forget to logout of “Your Library Account.”
