Placing Holds

Patrons May Initiate A Hold Request When:

  1. A book is available.
  2. A desired book is checked out to another borrower. Patrons should first check OhioLINK for availability of another copy. Otherwise, they may place a hold on the item.
  3. The library will send an e-mail notification once the item becomes available. The item will be on hold at the Circulation Desk for a number of days.

IMPORTANT: Holds prevent the current patron from renewing the item.

How To Place A Hold:

  1. In the Maag Library Catalog (MaagNET), click on the desired item.
  2. Click the "Request" button (located underneath the title) to initiate the hold request.
  3. Enter your name and your YSU ID # (begins with "Y"). If desired item is not needed after a certain date, enter that date.  To complete request, click the "Submit" button.
  4. The requested material(s) will show in the next page.
  5. You will receive an e-mail notifying you that the item(s) is available for pick-up and the pick-up location. Patrons can monitor their requests and holds using the Your Library Account option.
