YSU in 1933
 

Youngstown College was accredited by the Ohio Department of Education to teach complete courses in education. The new Education Department was placed under the direction of Dr. George M. Wilcox. Meanwhile, Youngstown College was ranked 25th out of 47 Ohio colleges by the Cleveland Plain Dealer in numbers of students enrolled. James W. Wishart was hired as a full-time instructor in education, and Professor John W. Bare proved instrumental in the creation of the Psi Gamma Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, an honorary professional English fraternity.
