YSU in 1936

Dr. Robert D. Bowden, head of the Youngstown College socials science department, took out petitions to run as a candidate for Congress, representing the 19th Congressional District. Later in the year, Dr. Bowden celebrated the publication of his new book, Boies Penrose: Symbol of an Era. Elsewhere on campus, a new metallurgy course (to be taught by Denton Doll) was created, while P.C. Pickard and Joseph E. Smith began their long association with Youngstown College. Pickard was named business manager and Smith was appointed social sciences chair when Dr. Bowden stepped down.
