As postwar enrollment figure topped the 4,000 mark, Youngstown College purchased the Butler property on Wick Avenue
for campus expansion. W.H. Miller was appointed dean of the Dana School of Music, Dr. Ivan G. Grimshaw was appointed
head librarian, and Donald Elser’s play No Need to Worry was published. Tuition increased to $224 per year, the
library fund grew to $11,980 through donations received in memory of the late Clarence J. Strouss, and a boiler
(valued at $6,000) was given to the College by the Youngstown Engineering & Welding Co. for experimental use by
engineering students.
