YSU in 1949
 

The Clarence J. Strouss Memorial Auditorium in the Liberal Arts building (now Jones Hall) was dedicated. Ceylon E. Hollingsworth, founder of the Youngstown College Art Department and nationally-known artist, passed away at the age of 80. YoCo librarian Dr. Ivan G. Grimshaw made a study of library structures in other parts of the country in anticipation of the construction of a new library on the Youngstown College campus. Engineering professor Dr. Paul Narbutovskih received an award from the Westinghouse Electric Corporation and the college radio program, The YoCo Quarter Hour, commemorated its first anniversary on the air over WKBN Radio.
