YSU in 1959
 

An Advertising Department was created within the Youngstown University Business School. Professor William S. Flad was selected to serve as its first chairman. Enrollment figures stood at 5,655 students at the start of the spring semester. A student drive to collect funds for the YU library was held, and Professor Karl W. Dykema, director of YU’s Division of Language and Literature, contributed four articles to the publication, Readings in Applied Linguistics.
