Where to check for books (Library catalogs)

MaagNet [Maag Library's online catalog]
- Look here for books, government documents and other materials owned by Maag Library. Search by subject, keyword, author or title. If you have difficulty locating the correct subject heading, it may help to consult the Library of Congress Subject Headings, a set of large red books located behind the Reference Desk in the Reference Room.

- Copy or print publication information (author, title, place, publisher, date--found in the catalog record or on the title page of the book itself) for your "Works Cited" page.
- Note the item's call number and location (for example Reference Collection, General Collection). Check the building guide for exact location.

OhioLINK Central Catalog [combined catalogs of OhioLINK member libraries]
- Look here for books not available at Maag, but owned by other Ohio colleges and universities. [Libraries in OhioLINK may use Medical Subject Headings (MESH) in addition to or instead of Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH)].
- You may request items online from other OhioLINK Institutions. It takes 3-5 working days (M-F) for books requested through the OhioLINK Central Catalog to arrive. Check your circulation record to see the status [Item Requested, In Transit, OhioLINK Rec'd] of your request. Once the book is here, pick it up and check it out at the Circulation Desk. To search databases by remote access, start at the OhioLINK Home Page (http://www.ohiolink.edu/) then "Explore OhioLINK Databases" by subject, by name or by type. You must login to authenticate (select your institution, enter your name and library barcode) if accessing databases from off campus. Useful Databases for Merchandising

Academic Search Premier (Ebsco) On-campus access Off-campus access: A multidisciplinary database that indexes over 4300 periodicals and contains full text for over 3400 scholarly publications. Includes ability to limit results to peer-reviewed journals and full-text.; Provides nearly 590 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Also featured are abstracts and indexing for over 627 journals.
JSTOR: JSTOR is an electronic journal archive that provides complete back issues of journals (from volume 1 No.1 to within 3-5 years of current issues) with full-text articles. Due to license agreements with publishers, the most current issues are not available. See the Moving Wall for more information on availability of current issues. YSU Maag Library subscribes to two of the Arts and Sciences collections, currently about 240 journal titles in key fields of the Arts & Sciences.

OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center (EJC) (1995 to present): Repository of full-text articles from OhioLINK electronic journal subscriptions. Currently includes over 4000 scholarly journals. For search tips and help see: EJC help.
PsycINFO (1967 to present): Contains citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations, and technical reports, all in the field of psychology and the psychological aspects of related disciplines, such as psychiatry, sociology, education, anthropology, and business.
PsycINFO Historical (1872-1966): ndex and abstracts of historical psychological journals, 1872-1966.
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection (Ebsco) On-campus access Off-campus access: Index, abstracts, and full text covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry and psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.
Social Sciences Citation Index (1980 to present).: Provides references to cited authors and articles as well as keyword searches for the journal literature of the social sciences. For search tips see guide to ISI Databases.
Social Sciences Index: A good source for locating journal articles about the psychological, sociological, or health aspects of clothing and dress, along with information on the textile and clothing industries.
Sociological Abstracts (1963 to present): An index to the latest research in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences, including anthropology and social psychology.
Sociological Collection (Ebsco) On-campus access Off-campus access: Index, abstracts, and full text covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry and psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.
