Collections Services (formerly Technical Services) acquires and processes materials in various formats for Maag Library and the Wilcox Curriculum Resource Center (CRC). The Collections Services area provides access to these materials through the library online catalog, MaagNet.

In order to achieve this goal, our primary duties include:

• developing the library's collections
• ordering, receiving and claiming materials and authorizing payment for them
• organizing materials by
  • original and copy cataloging
  • performing bibliographic record maintenance, including assignment of classification numbers, subject headings, access points, as well as format description and series updates
  • performing item record maintenance such as location, circulation status, and barcode number
  • processing which involves labeling, barcoding, covers, and pamphlet binding
  • transfer of items from one location to another, to storage, or to the regional depository in Rootstown
  • authority control, which ensures bibliographic record retrieval through the use of consistent name, series, and subject headings
  • small repairs to book bindings and covers
