The BCOE and Wilcox CRC are proud to be starting a new initiative this year on Information Literacy in local area schools. As part of the Institute for Library and Information Literacy Institute's, students in TEC, STEP and 3706 are incorporating the new ODE Library Standards and Benchmarks into their curriculum units and lesson plans. To learn more about this program check out the Wilcox CRC's new web site on ILILE. IMPORTANT NEWS!
The Mahoning County Educational Resource Center, St. Anne's School in Austintown, and Poland City Schools donated hundreds of brand-new textbooks, many of them in mathematics, to the Wilcox CRC in the summer months. All of these are now on the shelves for your use. Come in and check them out! |

The Wilcox CRC circulated 4,609 items in April, 2005. This accounted for 20.28% of Maag Library's total circulation. The monthly circulation represents a 2% increase from the April, 2004 figure. Dr. McEwing has been busy revising
and updating the Beeghly College of Education's
website. Be sure to check it out. Part of that revision includes
a web page on Wilcox CRC Librarian
Paul Rohrbaugh.

| There have been a number of changes to the Maag Library website and OhioLINK databases. All of them are designed to make researching more efficient and effective. The Maag Library website also has a new look to it, with some added features that make navigating the OhioLINK databases and internet a little easier. Please do not hesitate to ask any CRC staff member or the CRC librarian for insight or help in using these databases. You can obtain flyers that list new web sites, and research tips for database/internet searches at the Wilcox CRC's circulation desk. Also, group bibliographic instructional tours can be scheduled by contacting librarian Paul Rohrbaugh at Y.S.U. extension 3217 or by email phrohrbaugh@hotmail.com |

Speaking of OhioLINK databases, it is possible for current students, faculty, and staff of YSU to access the OhioLINK databases from off campus. The Maag Library patron barcode, which is located on the back of the YSU identification card, is the password which enables this remote access feature. This new remote access will work best on Netscape 4.xx. If you need a barcode, bring your YSU ID with a current validation sticker to the circulation desk. |
|
Please don't forget to check your circulation record regularly. Items that you placed on hold, status of requests for OhioLINK loans, items currently checked out to you, and fines (heaven forbid!) should be monitored. If you do not have a library barcode, stop at the Wilcox CRC's circulation desk to obtain one. |
