Access Policy

Mission:
Central to the mission of
Maag Library is supplying the informational needs of the University population
and its library patrons. We strive to develop collections, resources
and services to meet those needs. It is within this context that
Maag Library offers access to the Internet/World Wide Web.
The following is a list of
rules and regulations established by W. F. Maag Library governing the use
of its Internet/World Wide Web sites.

All computer resources of Maag
Library shall be used solely for legitimate and authorized academic, instructional,
research and public service purposes.

Receiving and/or using unauthorized
copies of software, or users making unauthorized copies of software for
themselves or others is illegal and prohibited.

All users must comply with Youngstown
State University's policy concerning sexual harassment. According to the
YSU's Board of trustees, "sexual harassment" is any behavior which
" has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an individual's
academic or professional performance or creating an intimidating, hostile
or offensive employment, education, or living environment."

Users may not use their own
software programs on the library's web sites.

Failure to comply with
any of the above will result in a loss of Internet/World Wide Web privileges.

Minors (under the age
of 18) are prohibited from computer usage unless accompanied by an adult
or they are YSU students. Usage by minors is dependent upon availability
of the terminals to the university population.

or computer, or for any loss of data, damage or liability that may occur
from patron use of the library's computers. The library has no control
over the information accessed through the Internet. We cannot be
held responsible for its content. Maag Library cannot censor access
to material nor protect users from offensive material. It remains
the responsibility of the user to determine what is appropriate.
