• New Look for YSU Archive: The first phase of the YSU Archive project—renovation of the 5th floor area to create a functional working space—is now complete.

• Institutional Repository at YSU — a first look.
  
  
• Digital Collections — Access to Maag Library and OhioLINK digital collections now includes:
  • ETD (Electronic Theses and Dissertations) — Abstracts and full-text theses and dissertations of students at many OhioLINK institutions are now available online. YSU dissertations are now available full-text!
    
  • Oral Histories — Transcripts of oral histories collected by the History Department at YSU since 1974 are now available online.
    
  • Sacred Landmarks — Links to material dealing with churches and other sacred landmarks in the Mahoning Valley
    
  • OhioLINK Digital Media Center — Material is continually added to this collection. Currently includes physics videos, images of Mayan archaeology, historic Wright Brothers images, historic Sanborn fire insurance maps, Art and Architecture and LANDSAT Satellite images.

OhioLINK News

• Pick-up Anywhere (for items requested using the OhioLINK Library Catalog) is now available. See New OhioLINK Services for more information. (July 2003)
  
  
• Several new online resources will be provided beginning in July 2003 thanks to a Library Services Technology Act (LSTA) grant awarded to OhioLINK and its library consortium partners INFOhio(K-12) and OPLIN(Public Libraries). For a list of resources check this list of database descriptions from the OPLIN site or see the Press Release from OhioLINK.
  
  
• Digital Video Collection — currently over 380 videos (the collection will number 800 when done) from Films for the Humanities and Sciences. View or download (for temporary storage only) at http://dmc.ohiolink.edu/media/ffhLogin. Requires software called "RealOne Player" to view. Software is available from RealNetworks at http://www.real.com. (June 2003)
  
  
• Reference books online: Full-text online reference books are now available through OhioLINK. There are 149 titles available in a wide variety of subjects. Browse the collection by title or search by words or phrases. Take a look by going to: Electronic Reference Books

• Chat with a Librarian available Fall 2002: This service, brought to you by Maag Library and OhioLINK
  • allows YSU students, faculty and staff to access a virtual online reference desk from a personal home computer;
  • enables students and faculty to ask a librarian a research/reference question in real time;
  • enables library patrons and reference librarians to view the catalog or other web resources simultaneously.
  Access the Chat service from Maag's Ask A Librarian page.
  Note: This service is staffed by reference librarians from over 40 OhioLINK institutions.

• Subject Cluster Searching is now available for OhioLINK Databases. Choose one of the subject clusters listed or create your own and search several databases at one time.
  
  
• Foreign Language Videos have been added to the OhioLINK DMC Foreign Languge Database. Other collections recently added to the Digital Media Center: more than 500 images of Mayan archaeology from Oberlin College and The Encyclopedia of Physics Demonstrations (about 600 videos).
