Placing Holds

Patrons may initiate hold requests on Maag Library materials. Please Note: Holds prevent a patron from renewing the item.

When to Place a Hold

  • A book is available for checkout.
  • A desired book is checked out to another borrower. Patrons can also check Search OhioLINK in the Library Catalog to see if another copy is available in OhioLINK Libraries.
  • The library will send an email notification once the item becomes available. The item will be on hold at the Library Services Desk.

How to Place a Hold

  • Search the desired item in the Library Catalog.
  • Sign in to your Library Account to request items.
  • Click the Request button (located underneath the title) to initiate the hold request.
  • Click the Local Pickup after Request to initiate the hold request.
  • Chose a Pickup Date for your desired in the request form. To complete your request, click the Send Request button.
  • The message “Your request was successfully placed” will show in the next page.
  • You will receive a YSU email when your item(s) are available for pickup. Monitor your requests and holds via your Library Account.
