Most of the books in the stack areas of Maag Library (floors 3-6A) are in the circulating collection, as are many of the materials in the Government Documents Collection on the 6th floor. Materials that do not circulate:  items in the  Reference Room (Main Floor); the Periodicals/Microforms area (Lower Level); the MultiMedia Collection (Fifth Floor);  items in On-site Storage, Special Collections, or Closed Reserve.  Additionally, some items in the General and Oversize Collections are marked as non-circulating.

Where do I check out books?
To check out books, you must take them to the Circulation Desk, Main Floor Lobby. Circulating documents must be checked out in the Government Documents area, Sixth Floor, when that area is open. (When the Documents area is not open, check out those materials at the Circulation desk, Main Floor).

What can I do if a book is checked out, missing, or not owned by Maag Library?
If the book you need is checked out, missing, or not owned by YSU, you may search the OhioLINK Central Catalog, the combined catalogs of the OhioLINK consortium colleges and universities. You may borrow books online through the Central Catalog as long as they are available. See  Online Borrowing Through The Central Catalog for more information.  Books will be sent to Maag Library and held at the Circulation Desk, Main Floor, for ten days. You are responsible for checking your circulation record on MaagNet to know if the book has arrived--you will not be notified by the library. (See Viewing your Circulation Record). Books usually arrive in 3-5 working days. If your book has not arrived in one week, please check with a Reference librarian (330/742-3686) or Circulation staff member (330/742-3678) to see if there is a problem.

Interlibrary Loan

What if the book I need is not available at Maag or through OhioLINK?
You may request books not available at YSU or other OhioLINK institutions through Interlibrary Loan.  Request forms are available at the Reference Desk, Main Floor. You may also fill out an online form.  OhioLINK book requests take 3-5 business days to receive if book is currently available from one of the OhioLINK libraries. Traditional Interlibrary Loan (i.e., outside of OhioLINK) takes a minimum of two weeks and may take longer.  Loans are contingent upon the lending library's policies.  Every effort will be made to help you acquire the material you need; however, acceptance of your request does not guarantee that your request can be fulfilled.  You will be notified by mail when your book is received.  Items may be picked up at the Circulation Desk.  Questions?  Contact Interlibrary Loan/OhioLINK at (330) 742-3702.
