Computers in Reference Room
There are 16 eMac computers in the Reference Room, main floor, which allow access to all electronic library resources via the Internet. Use of these computers is governed by the university's computing policy and Maag Library's Internet Policy . Software on these computers includes browsers such as Safari, Internet Explorer, and Firefox. Also included are popular MS Office products: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Printing is avaialable from any of these computers. While the eMacs do not have "floppy" drives, they do have CD burners and USB ports to connect storage devices such as flash drives. Blank CDs are for sale ($1.00 each) at the Circulation Desk, main floor. Wireless Laptop
A current YSU student, faculty or staff member can check out one of 18 wireless laptops in the Computer Lab on the fourth floor and access the wireless network from anywhere in the library. (Checkout duration is three hours). You must have a signed laptop agreement on file at the Circulation Desk (main floor) prior to checkout. Laptops are equipped with CD burners and USB ports to connect storage devices such as flash drives. Printing is available (to a networked printer in the Computer Lab, fourth floor). Blank CDs are available at the Circulation Desk, main floor, for $1.00 each. Electronic Classroom
Maag Library's electronic classroom is located on the fourth floor of Maag Library. Used primarily for hands-on instruction in the use of library databases and resources, the room includes an instructor's station linked to a projector and SoftBoard, and 23 student workstations. The computer lab on the fourth floor of Maag Library is open to YSU students and faculty during the hours of library operation. (The lab closing time is 15 minutes before the library closes for the day). The lab has 29 workstations (Windows XP) with CD-ROM drives, floppy drives, ZIP drives, and Office 2003) as well as three PCs for students with disabilities. Five black-and-white printers are available. |
