Locating Books

Books can be found through MaagNet, the Maag Library online catalog or through the OhioLINK Catalog. Use MaagNet to locate items available through Maag Library. Use the OhioLINK catalog to locate items available through other OhioLINK institutions. These items can be requested and delivered to Maag Library for pickup.

Browsing for books

Dental hygiene resources are located throughout the library: items in the Reference Room, Serials and in the circulating collection are all arranged according to the Library of Congress Classification System. Once you locate a book or journal that is useful in one of these areas, you can locate information on the same or similar topics by locating the same call number in the other areas of the library. Dental hygiene articles are available in print and electronic sources. The information below will help you decide where to begin searching for articles.

Articles in print

Dental hygiene journals that Maag Library receives in print can be located by searching MaagNet, browsing by call number or through the list of Health Professions journals received by Maag Library. These journals are located on the sixth floor of Maag Library and are arranged in call number order.

Online Articles

Many dental hygiene journals are now available through online subscription databases and through the OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center. Various terms can be used to search these databases, including subject, keywords and relevant dates. Most databases allow access by current YSU faculty, students and staff from off campus, although a few are restricted to in-library use only. CINAHL Plus with Full Text (Ebsco) (1983 to present) On-campus access Off-campus access: Provides references to articles in nursing and allied health from major English-language nursing journals and from primary journals in the biomedical and allied health disciplines. Includes publications of the American Nurses' Association and National League for Nursing.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic (Ebsco) On-campus access Off-campus access: Index, abstracts and full text from nearly 590 journal that focus on disciplines in nursing and allied health.

MEDLINE 1966 to date (Full database) or Current 5 years.: Provides references to the biomedical literature. Includes material referenced in Index Medicus, International Nursing Index and Index to Dental Literature. Includes journal citations previously supplied in AIDSLine, CancerLit, BioethicsLine, and HealthStar. "Old MEDLINE" 1950-65 is also available.
MEDLINE uses Medical Subject Heading (MeSH). For help in determining the correct Medical Subject Headings, try the Medical Subject Headings site from the National Library of Medicine.

Academic Search Premier (Ebsco) On-campus access Off-campus access: A multidisciplinary database that indexes over 4300 periodicals and contains full text articles from over 3400 scholarly publications.

PsycINFO (1967 to present) or Historical PsycINFO, 1887-1966.: Retrieves references to the literature of psychology and related disciplines. For search tips see online Help.
Science Citation Index Expanded (ISI Web of Knowledge): Provides references to cited authors and articles as well as keyword searches for the journal literature of the sciences.

Social Sciences Citation Index (ISI Web of Knowlege): Provides references to cited authors and articles as well as keyword searches for the journal literature of the social sciences.
