BACKGROUND: Items have been removed from Maag stacks and other locations are stored in the Remote Depository in Rootstown, Ohio. These are items that have very low circulation but are important to the Maag collection.
SCOPE: This procedure shall serve as a guideline for processing materials that have been requested to be sent to remote.
The spine labels generally do not change. If the copy is from the stacks, the call number does not change, neither should the spine label. Exception: items being sent from Maag Reference should be 'relabeled' to remove the "REF". Covering the label over, while quick-and-dirty, is not suitable should the item be requested and the label fall off. It is highly suggested that the old label be removed and a new label reflecting the change be attached to the spine.
The item record should contain the following note field: trans=<location from>:<your initials>:<date>
