Checking Out, Renewing or Returning Materials
Checking Out Materials
To check out Maag Library materials and materials borrowed from OhioLINK or through InterLibrary Loan, please bring your YSU ID to the Library Services Desk. You may also use your virtual YSU ID available through the YSU App.
Without a YSU ID, you can check out materials with a valid driver's license or passport. Items cannot be checked out by just giving your YSU ID#. Valid photo identification is required.
Returning Materials
Date-due slips are placed in all materials borrowed. You are responsible for returning or renewing the materials by the due date. All borrowed materials are the patron’s responsibility.
Library materials may be returned to the Library Services Desk during library hours. When closed, returns may be deposited in the dropbox located on the west side of Maag Library (facing Ward Beecher Hall).
Renewing Materials
- Some Maag Library materials may be renewed three (3) days before the due date, provided there are no existing HOLDS. For further details, see Borrowing Privileges & Loan Periods.
- OhioLINK print materials can be renewed up to six (6) times, provided there are no existing HOLDS.

To renew InterLibrary Loan materials, please contact the Library Services Desk at 330-941-3621 three (3) days before the due date.
InterLibrary Loan renewal is not guaranteed. Renewal is contingent upon the terms and agreement of the loaning institution.
How To Renew Materials
- In-person at the Library Services Desk
- By telephone at 330-941-3678
- Online using your Library Account:
- At the Maag Library Home Page, select Library Account

Sign in to your library account.
- For YSU Members: Select Students, Faculty & Staff
- For YSU Retirees, Alumni, or Courtesy Users: Select Other Users. Click Reset Your Password when you log in the first time. A reset password link will be sent to your personal email account (if provided to YSU/Maag Library). Email adminmaag@ysu.edu for assistance.
- Click on the dropdown arrow on the right of your name and choose My library Card.
- You can view your loans, requests, fees and fines. Click on Loans to renew your checked out items.
- You will see the new due date of the materials.
IMPORTANT: Holds, recalls, or past due status prevent renewals. Contact the Library Services Desk at 330-941-3678 for assistance.
